Field Training Program
A new Statesville Police Officer is placed on probationary status for their first year with the Department. Once assigned to a patrol squad, officers will be paired with a Field Training Officer (FTO). The FTO will teach and guide new officers throughout the first 12-16 weeks of their career. New officers can expect to receive intense instruction covering all the essential functions of a police officer and demonstrate their knowledge in real life situations. New officers can also expect to be frequently tested in their knowledge of State laws, Department policy & codes, City streets, etc. All officers must successfully complete the Field Training Program before becoming a "one-person unit".
For more information about the FTO Program, contact the Training & Personnel Division at 704.878.3409 or email.
