Statesville Police Department
The members of the Statesville Police Department conscientiously strive to be responsive to the needs of the community; knowing that we exist not to serve ourselves, but to serve and protect others. We will work with professionalism, integrity and fairness with the members of our community in a collaborative effort to ensure that Statesville is a city in which people can live, work, and recreate in a safe environment. Statesville is an All-America City.
Our department is located at 330 S. Tradd Street, one block from the U.S. 21 and N.C. 115 intersection. Statesville is located in the Western Piedmont area of the state near the center of Iredell County. Two major interstates, I-40 and I-77, intersect within the city limits as do three U.S. highways. Two large metropolitan areas are located within 40 miles, Charlotte to the south and Winston Salem to the east.
Statesville's 81 sworn officers, 9 reserve officers, and 18 civilians serve approximately 26,000 residents within an area of 24.9 square miles. The department is made up of two patrol squads including five K-9's, four Traffic Units, Criminal Investigations, Community Impact, Professional Standards, Records, Communications, and Administration. Specialty areas include Narcotics, Specialized Operations Team (SOT), Community Relations, Police Negotiation Team, and Special Response Team (SRT).
Our officers are under the authority of the Statesville City Council and City Manager with certain aspects subject to the approval of the Statesville Civil Service Board.
