All About Single Stream Recycling

Statesville is improving its curbside recycling program by replacing the small red bins with new 96-gallon rollout containers that will allow citizens to recycle many more items.

Your recycling schedule will not change.  It will continue to be every-other-week on the same day as your garbage pick-up.  Your designated recycling week (red or blue) has not changed.  If you are not sure what week you are, please go to the interactive map and follow the directions carefully.

Until single stream begins later this fall, the following items can be placed in the red recycling bin for curbside pick-up: 

Please remove lids from containers and throw away.

  • Clear glass food or beverage bottles and jars
  • Plastic liter drink bottles
  • Plastic bottles, #1-7
  • Plastic milk jugs
  • Aluminum drink cans
  • Newspapers and inserts

Recycling Centers

Statesville has two recycling centers in the parking lots of: (1) Police Station, 131 E. Sharpe St. in downtown Statesville and (2) Statesville Fitness and Activity Center, 1875 Simonton Rd., which accept:

Plastic bottles & jugs
All colors of food and beverage glass bottles and jars
All cans: aluminum, tin, steel and aerosol
Flattened cardboard and chipboard - NOW ACCEPTING pizza boxes
Mixed paper, newspapers, magazines, junk mail and phone books
Hard plastics:toys, laundry baskets, flowerpots, buckets, pet carriers and litter boxes

The downtown recycling centers are open 24 hours a day.  These items do not need to be separated.
