Here are the details:

Statesville City Government is hosting a seven-week program that gives participants an in-depth look at the functions of city government from the citizen’s viewpoint.  It’s called Statesville 101 and the next session will be held on Thursdays, Sept. 6 – Oct. 18, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The program is open to all Statesville citizens, 18 years and older, at no cost.  Interested citizens must complete and return an application form by August 24, 2012.  Class size is limited to 25 participants who will be selected in a manner so that the class contains, in as much as is possible, a diverse representation across the wards.  There are some spots available for non-residents.

Students will learn about local government, visit the various city facilities, gain insight into the different departments, and meet and talk with department heads and other city officials.  “The weekly sessions are designed to help citizens become more informed and involved in the community, while having a good time,” said Nancy Davis, Statesville Public Affairs Director.
