Fitness Center

Welcome to the SFAC Fitness Center! Our fitness center features cardiovascular equipment, resistance machines, and free weights. Our fitness equipment is manufactured by LifeFitness and Octane so you know you are getting a great workout! The fitness center is designed to accommodate everyone's needs, from beginner to the advanced exerciser.

Fitness Equipment

Cardiovascular Equipment

Our cardiovascular section consists of: Treadmills, Ellipticals, Recumbent Ellipticals, Upright Cycles, Recumbent Cycles, and a Rower

The cardiovascular equipment features touch screen access, iPod compatibility, USB connectivity, a virtual onscreen trainer for constant feedback, heart rate sensors, and three real time landscape workout profiles. Each cardiovascular machine is equipped with an audio receiver to individually connect to one of the four televisions mounted on the wall in front of the cardiovascular area.

Resistance Machines

Our fifteen resistance machines feature smart biomechanics and user friendly amenities. The resistance line targets all the major muscle groups of the body while allowing the user to exercise in a safe and controlled format. The machines are adaptable to accommodate different users allowing each person to obtain a safe, yet effective workout.

Free Weights

Our free weight section includes rack benches, versatile utility benches, leg press, Smith Machine, power rack, and dumbbell line ranging from 5 to 125 pounds. The free weight plates and dumbbells are rubber encased allowing for a safer and quieter workout.


Fitness Programs


Fitness Center Orientations

Meet with a SFAC staff to help you develop a fitness program that will assist in meeting your fitness goals. Learn proper form and technique, how to set-up and program each machine, and develop a successful exercise program. (Free to members)

Fitness Evaluations

Ready to get started exercising, but not sure where to begin? Hit a workout plateau? Then try a fitness evaluation to determine your current fitness level. The evaluation is comprised of a body composition test, cardiovascular endurance, strength, and flexibility. Please schedule an appointment in the fitness office.          (Free to members)

Personal Training

Do you need an extra push, a little motivation, or a new workout routine? One of our personal trainers can get you moving in the right direction on meeting your fitness goals. Pick up a brochure at the front desk or in the fitness center to see all the available options. (Prices vary depending on personal training packages)

Youth Fit

Youth Fit is a four session certification class for 11-13 year olds who wish to use the Fitness Center but do not meet the age requirements. The course focuses on benefits of exercise, proper training, and fitness center etiquette. Participants must attend all sessions to obtain certification. Once certified, participants may use the Fitness Center without limitations. Course is offered monthly. Please check flyer located on the fitness center or lobby information boards for upcoming classes.        ($40: city residents/$50: non-city residents)

Free Weights 101

 Want to add free weight exercises to your routine but are unsure where to start? Then come to one of our Free Weights 101 classes. Free weights are great for building strength and enhancing your strength workout. Learn about the different types of free weights, benefits of using free weights, and basic exercises to help get you started. Class times and dates vary. Please check the information boards located in the fitness center or lobby for upcoming classes. (Free to members)

Walk/Run Group

Come join our walk/run group and enjoy some outdoor exercise on the Statesville Greenway. All ages and abilities are welcome to come walk or run at their own pace. A great way to get fit and have fun at the same time. Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:30-6:30 P.M. (April-October)  Free
