NCDOT is scheduled to begin a grooving project on the eastbound lanes of I-40 between exits 154 and 162 this Monday, August 29. Work will be conducted from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Traffic will be rerouted onto US 64.
Statesville Fire Chief David Bullins said, “plans are in place to allow emergency coverage to the east side of Statesville during this event … Although it’s not necessarily an emergency, this is another opportunity for local public agencies to work together that also help us prepare for large scale events."
The I-40 construction project on the eastbound lanes will take about a week, excluding the weekend.
The same work is scheduled for westbound lanes in approximately 6-7 weeks.
