Tonight (Monday, November 7), Center St. between Stockton St. and Broad St. and Water St. between Center St. and Tradd St. will be closed overnight to thru traffic due to construction beginning at 7:00 PM. The contractor will close the street Monday night to finish water line work in the intersection of Water St. and Center St. The work will start at 7:00 PM and Water St. and Center St. should be reopened to traffic by 7:00 AM or at least operating with flagmen if they run into some problems. This work is dependent on the weather and will be rescheduled if needed.
**Local residents, business and restaurant traffic will be allowed to park on the street beyond the barricades while work is occurring.
Downtown Streetscape Construction Update
This last couple of weeks the contractor has completed around 80% of the planter curb and sidewalk on the east side of Center St between Front St and Broad St. They have completed the installation of brick pavers at the northwest and southwest corners of the square. Also, they have started installing some of the planter pots between Front St and Broad St. The electrical contractor has continued installing conduits and equipment for the new traffic signals at the Front St and Broad St and Water St intersections and have started installing the new street lights east side of Center St between Front St and Broad St.
This week the contractor will continue construction of the planter curbs and sidewalk on the east side of Center St between Front St and Broad ST and begin installing pavers in this block also. On the east side of Center St between Broad St and Water St they will start working on the storm drain line and electrical conduits. The landscape contractor will work on completing the irrigation system and plantings in the beds near the square on the west side of the road.

Detour Routes for Monday, November 7:
Northbound Center Street traffic would turn right on E. Broad Street, Left on S. Tradd Street, Left on Stockton Street, and Right back onto N. Center Street.
Southbound Center Street traffic would turn left on Stockton Street, Right on N. Tradd Street, Right on E. Front Street, and Left back onto S. Center Street.
Eastbound West End Av / Water Street traffic would turn right on S. Meeting Street, Left on W. Broad Street, Left on Tradd Street and Right back onto Water Street.
Westbound Water Street traffic would turn Left on Tradd Street, Right on E. Broad Street, Right on Meeting Street and Left back onto West End Avenue.
