Beginning the morning of Friday, Jan. 13, Cooper St. will be a one-way street, with traffic flowing from Broad St. to Front St. At Front St., drivers will be able to turn right or left.
The Statesville Police Department suggested the change to improve traffic flow in the downtown area and Statesville City Council.
On-street parking will not be allowed, and a one hour loading zone will be established on the west side of Cooper Street immediately south of Broad Street.
Street Division staff will modify signage on Cooper Street on Thursday, January 12, with the one way status going into effect the morning of Friday, January 13.
